**Overview:
The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Radiation Health Specialist to join our team at the Office of Radiological Health. This position will be responsible for ensuring compliance with public health and safety regulations in the use of radioactive materials and radiation-producing equipment throughout New York City.
**Salary:** The estimated annual salary for this position is $114,000, based on the average salary for a Radiation Health Specialist in New York City.
**Job Description:
This position draws on technical and scientific skills, as well as effective communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in radiological health or a related field, with a strong background in physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, or a related field.
The successful candidate will be responsible for scheduling and conducting inspections of facilities that use radioactive materials or radiation-producing equipment, as well as performing on-site tests and reviewing facility license and registration information.
**Required Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal and organizational skills. They will also have a strong understanding of public health and safety regulations, as well as experience working with radiation-producing equipment and radioactive materials.
