Psychiatric Technician

The State of California Department of Developmental Services is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will provide direct care, modeling, coaching, instruction, and training on nursing care and behavioral support plans to community direct care staff and consumers.
Job Summary:
The Psychiatric Technician will work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will be responsible for providing basic and general behavioral training and psychiatric nursing care to residents in our STAR residential and Crisis Assessment Stabilization Services (CAST) mobile crisis services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care, modeling, coaching, instruction, and training on nursing care and behavioral support plans to community direct care staff and consumers.
- Perform on-site direct care, modeling, coaching, instruction, and training with consumers and their caretakers/direct care staff in community settings, such as consumer's homes, hospital, or psychiatric settings.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide basic and general behavioral training and psychiatric nursing care to residents.
Requirements:
- Graduation from a training program for Psychiatric Technicians accredited by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners.
- Acceptance by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners to take the licensing examination.
- Valid California Driver's License (CDL).
- Pass a drug screening, background investigation, medical clearance, and obtain a Psychiatric Technician License.
