Position Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a key role in the successful execution of projects at KFI Engineers, P.C.

This individual will provide technical and engineering excellence, as well as successful delivery of work to our customers.

The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring expectations are clearly understood and acted upon.

This role requires a dynamic team environment where the individual will be proactive, communicate clearly to all stakeholders, and model a highly collaborative working environment.

Typical Responsibilities
  • Assists with the design of power distribution systems, including primary requirements.
  • Supports the design of building power and lighting systems.
  • Includes the design of special systems, such as ground fault, lightning protection, emergency generator, UPS, etc.
  • Prepares engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet contracted scope of work and to ensure application of Electrical Engineering Principles.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and Structural Engineering construction practices.
  • Builds up knowledge of Codes (e.g., NEC, NFPA, IBC, Life Safety Code, etc.).
  • Assists with performing voltage drop and short-circuit calculations.
  • Performs arc fault analysis.
  • Coordinates work with other departments and project team members as well as contractors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

The successful candidate will have a pragmatic and applied approach, while at the same time bringing a creative examination of customer needs and solutions.

The Electrical Engineer will have project experience and/or a working knowledge of Electrical design for building projects.

AutoCAD, Revit, or similar drawing experience will also be very beneficial.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also required to enable effective interaction with Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers.

Ten plus years of electrical engineering experience is required.

This role will require the candidate to be self-directed but thrive in an environment where consultation leads to superior outcomes.

Additional qualifications the successful candidate will possess include:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration in Ohio, or ability to obtain.
  • Healthcare design experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with FGI guidelines and NFPA 99.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and agile, responsive to quick changes in direction.
  • Ability to establish rapport and credibility with customers and other stakeholders.
