Job Summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to drive thermal and hydraulic testing that supports components in the current fleet and evaluates critical technologies for future ship classes.

This position involves frequent hands-on opportunities to be away from a desk and oversee testing operations.

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative group of talented and experienced engineers who enthusiastically execute testing and help to advance the state-of-the-art in the labs at NNL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate test plans and test resumes to secure test approvals
  • Design and procure specialized test components and hardware
  • Create and maintain test schedules
  • Author work control documents and component test specifications
  • Coordinate the daily follow of testing in labs at the Bettis site
  • Generate test reports to document test data and observations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design, fluids, heat transfer, and/or CAD tools
