Position: Firewall Security Specialist
Job Overview:
The Firewall Security Specialist is tasked with assessing and reviewing firewall rule modification requests to ensure adherence to security protocols and best practices. This role is vital in upholding the organization's security framework by ensuring that firewall settings comply with security regulations and safeguard against unauthorized access, threats, and vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and review firewall rule modification requests submitted through the designated request system.
  • Assess proposed modifications for potential security risks, impacts, and compliance with established security standards.
  • Engage with stakeholders to grasp the business context and technical requirements behind each rule modification.
  • Ensure that firewall rules follow the principle of least privilege, granting only necessary permissions.
  • Confirm that rules are thoroughly documented, detailing purpose, source, destination, and service.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of existing firewall rules to identify outdated or unnecessary entries.
  • Offer insights and recommendations to enhance firewall configurations and overall security posture.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in firewall technologies.
Qualifications:
  • Experience in Information Security or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience in firewall management, rule oversight, and security policy enforcement is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with firewall technologies such as CheckPoint and Palo Alto is beneficial.
  • Professional certifications like CISSP, CCNA Security, or equivalent are a plus.
Work Environment:
