Law Enforcement Prosecutor for Williams County

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Law Enforcement Prosecutor to join our team at Williams County. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and dedicated professional to contribute to the justice system in our community.

Job Summary:

The Assistant State's Attorney provides critical support to the State's Attorney by prosecuting criminal offenses and representing Williams County in civil matters. The successful candidate will have a strong background in law enforcement, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts criminal prosecutions and civil litigations
  • Attends and represents Williams County in various courtroom proceedings
  • Drafts and files motions, briefs, and other pleadings
  • Reviews law enforcement records and prepares charging documents
  • Consults with law enforcement personnel regarding investigations and legal procedures
  • Presents petitions to the Court for adjudication and disposition
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of techniques, information, and developments in the legal field
  • Assists in the duties of the State's Attorney as needed

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate Degree
  • Member in good standing with the North Dakota State Bar Association or able to obtain licensing shortly after hire
  • Two years of law experience preferred
  • Valid North Dakota Driver's License or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check and pre-employment drug screening

Salary and Benefits:

The starting salary for this position is $100,000 and may vary depending on experience and training. As a full-time regular employee, you will receive a generous compensation package that includes paid sick and vacation leave, a fully paid health/dental/vision benefit plan for employees and dependents, term life insurance of $25,000, 100% contribution toward retirement benefits through the ND Public Employees Retirement System, and 12 paid holidays each year.
