Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Specialist to join our team at Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute. The successful candidate will support the institute in ensuring compliance with environmental safety and health regulations, conducting radiation surveys, and providing training to employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct radiation surveys and training for employees
  • Perform noise surveys and laboratory safety inspections
  • Collect, analyze, ship, and pack samples
  • Maintain equipment for emergencies and respond to accidents
  • Collect, sort, and prepare wastes for disposal
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one year of related work experience in industrial hygiene or safety
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, NRC, and DOE regulations preferred
  • Superior professional-level written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, and Outlook
Physical Requirements

The work environment is varied, including office and laboratory settings, as well as outdoor areas. The successful candidate will frequently stand, walk, sit, kneel, crawl, climb, reach, and work overhead. They will also frequently lift, carry, push, and pull heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds and perform desk-based computer tasks.
