Job Title: Experienced Bread Baker

We are seeking an experienced bread baker to join our team at Carolina Farm Trust. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality breads from scratch, working efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and collaborating with our pastry team to develop new recipes and menu items.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Executive Pastry Chef in the preparation and production of various breads, including naturally leavened, yeasted, and laminated breads.
  • Follow established recipes, scale ingredients, and maintain quality standards to ensure consistency and excellence in production presentation.
  • Collaborate with the pastry team to develop new recipes and menu items, and participate in production, including mixing, shaping, and proofing.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area, including proper FIFO standards, and check the quality of ingredients.
  • Manage food storage, stock, and ingredients, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of bread techniques, including Baker's Math.
  • Attention to detail during production, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with the team, and willingness to take direction and learn from the Executive Pastry Chef and team.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, including proper handling, storage, and hygiene in a pastry kitchen.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays, and physical stamina to lift, stand, and move heavy objects in a kitchen environment.

  • Competitive hourly rate: $18 to $20 per hour.

  • Full-time schedule: 8 to 10 hour shifts, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends and holidays.
