Job Description

The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced veterinary surgeon to lead our surgical service in soft tissue and orthopedics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a surgical service providing primary patient care and clinical training of residents and interns.
  • Participate in all general surgery service activities, including meetings, resident seminars, journal club, rounds, and didactic teaching.
  • Commit to excellent patient management, client service, and clinical teaching.

Requirements:

  • Completed a 3-year residency in small animal surgery or equivalent.
  • ACVS board-certified or board-eligible.
  • Eligible for licensure to practice as a veterinary professional in New York State.

About Our Team:

Our surgical team includes 4 board-certified surgeons, a board-certified anesthesiologist, and experienced licensed veterinary technicians, assistants, and service coordinators. We have a brand-new, state-of-the-art surgical suite currently under construction, expected to open in 2024.

Technology and Resources:

We have on-site diagnostic imaging services, including computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. Our equipment includes C-Arm fluoroscopy, endoscopic equipment for arthroscopy, laparoscopy, thoracoscopy, and more.

We host a range of board-certified specialists in diverse services, including dentistry, dermatology, exotic pet medicine, internal medicine, interventional radiology, neurology, oncology, ophthalmology, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and rehabilitation and sports medicine. Our in-house pathology service has 2 board-certified pathologists performing educational autopsies. A commercial diagnostic laboratory operates 7 days a week, with an on-site clinical pathologist. A licensed clinical social worker is also on staff.

Pay Range: $300,000—$330,000 USD
