Overview

We take pride in our excellent team and the care we provide at our Level 1 Trauma facility, St. Louis University Hospital. Our perfusionists operate state-of-the-art equipment during procedures requiring artificial support or temporary replacement of circulatory or respiratory functions.

Salary and Benefits

The starting pay range for this position is $139,422 per year. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including tuition reimbursement, pet insurance, matching retirement funds, HSA, Medical, Vision, Dental, Disability, and Life Insurance Benefit Package.

Job Description

This role involves operating extra-corporeal circulation equipment during procedures that require artificial support or temporary replacement of circulatory or respiratory functions. As a medical perfusion specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing patients for procedures by performing assessments
  • Monitoring patients' anticoagulation, electrolyte, acid-base, and blood-gas status during procedures and taking appropriate action to resolve imbalances
  • Setting up and operating extracorporeal devices used for temporary replacement or support of cardiac or pulmonary function
  • Administering pharmacological agents, anesthetic agents, and blood products as necessary during operation of extracorporeal devices
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A graduate degree from a perfusion program
  • No prior experience required
  • Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) certification, with Missouri Certified Perfusionist certification within six months of hire
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association
