Ophthalmic Care Professional

As an Ophthalmic Assistant at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in the examination and treatment of eye disorders. This position requires a high level of customer service and communication skills, as you will be interacting with patients and their families on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist eye care providers in the examination and treatment of patients, including preparing examination and treatment rooms, cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instruments, and administering eye medications as ordered by the provider.
- Review appointment schedules, interview patients to obtain ocular history, and instruct or assist patients in preparation for scheduled procedures.
- Perform basic and routine vision screening examinations using appropriate ophthalmic instruments and tools, and record data.
- Administer eye medications, clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Registered Medical Assistant (Washington) within 2 months of hire.
- Ophthalmic Assistant Certificate within 24 months of hire from The Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with contact lens patients and products.
- Experience working in an ophthalmology or optometry practice.
- General medical knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, anatomy, physiology, systemic diseases, ocular diseases, ocular emergencies, and metric conversion fundamentals of microbial control.
