Job Description

As a Construction Worker, you will be responsible for performing general construction tasks involving physical labor at construction projects and plants. Your duties will include:

  1. Operating hand and power tools of all types;
  2. Cleaning and preparing sites, digging trenches, setting braces to support the sides of excavations;
  3. Erecting scaffolding, cleaning up rubble and debris;
  4. Heavy Grade Division duties such as operating jackhammers, drills, and other power tools;
  5. Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials;
  6. Spraying materials through hoses to clean, coat, or seal surfaces;
  7. Tending machines that pump concrete, grout, cement, sand, plaster, or stucco through spray-guns for application to ceilings and walls;
  8. Lubricating, cleaning, and repairing machinery, equipment, and tools;
  9. Applying caulking compounds by hand or using caulking guns;
  10. Cleaning and preparing construction sites to eliminate possible hazards;
  11. Controlling traffic passing near, in, and around work zones;
  12. Digging ditches or trenches, backfilling excavations, and compacting and leveling earth to grade specifications;
  13. Erecting and disassembling scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, and other temporary structures;
  14. Loading, unloading building materials, machinery, and tools;
  15. Mixing ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces;
  16. Learning and following safety regulations;
  17. Providing assistance to craft workers, such as carpenters, plasterers, and masons;
  18. Working long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers including nights, weekends, and work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year;
  19. Performing additional duties as required or directed by their immediate supervisor or other manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 21 years of age;
  • A good work ethic, punctuality, and reliability;
  • A minimum of 1-year experience preferred but not required;
  • Availability to work various hours including days, nights, and weekends;
  • Prefer experience with DOT projects;
  • Heavy Highway and erosion control experience is a plus;
  • A clean MVR and valid driver's license with dependable transportation;
  • The ability to shovel, rake, flag traffic, and perform other physical labor tasks;
  • The eagerness to learn and advance in your career.

This job requires heavy physical effort, including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds). You will also be working in a fast-paced environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, oil, and heavy equipment. Personal protective equipment is normally required for this position. The ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions are essential for success in this role.
