We are seeking a skilled Medical Coding Specialist to join our team at Cypress Healthcare Partners.

About the Role

This is a remote position that requires accuracy and attention to detail in abstracting provider services into billable codes. The successful candidate will work independently, communicating with providers and staff as needed to ensure accurate and timely coding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Abstract provider services into billable codes (CPT, HCPCS, & ICD-10) from medical documentation, adhering to AAPC, AHIMA, and NAMAS guidelines.
  • Post and reconcile hospital setting (IP/OP/OBS) charges daily.
  • Communicate inefficiencies to the coding supervisor, including medical necessity of services, truncated diagnoses, incomplete or missing documentation, and inappropriate coding trends.
  • Reference coding and payer resources to accurately code and bill provider-documented services.
  • Assist the AR Specialist with complicated coding denials and create appeal letters with supporting documentation.
  • Continuously educate yourself on coding and billing via Encoder Pro, coding subscriptions, and resources provided by CHP.
Requirements
  • Experience in coding services from medical documentation, following AAPC, AHIMA, and NAMAS guidelines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Additional languages are desirable.
  • Strong customer service and phone etiquette skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and meet productivity standards.
  • Prioritize workload, balancing short-term and long-term company needs.
  • Solve problems efficiently and accurately, working independently.
