We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Librarian I (Hourly) to join our team in the City of Chula Vista, CA. As a key member of our library staff, you will be responsible for providing exceptional public services, including reference assistance, materials selection, and community programs.
About the RoleThis is a part-time, non-benefited position with a maximum of 919 hours of employment per fiscal year. You will work closely with our team to deliver high-quality library services, develop innovative programs, and ensure the library remains a vibrant hub of activity in our community.
Responsibilities- Provide expert reference assistance to library patrons, utilizing print, media, and computer resources.
- Select and acquire library materials, ensuring they meet the needs and interests of our diverse community.
- Develop and implement engaging community programs, promoting literacy, education, and cultural enrichment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
- Perform related duties as required, supporting the efficient operation of the library.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in a library setting, preferably in a public library environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- A strong commitment to customer service, diversity, and inclusivity.
- The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
We offer a competitive salary of $30.72 - $37.34 hourly, commensurate with experience. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, supportive environment that values creativity, innovation, and teamwork.
