As a Clinical Nurse Leader at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of patient care.

Our Clinical Advancement Program (CAP) offers a unique opportunity for growth and development, with up to $8.00 in additional compensation for eligible nurses.

With a focus on quality patient care and a commitment to excellence, you will work under the general nursing process to assign nurses, technicians, and nursing care to assigned patients.

As a leader, you will be responsible for:

  • Assigning shift and schedule assignments, calling in staff, and monitoring attendance.
  • Providing clinical leadership for nursing and technician staff.
  • Ensuring adequate staff to meet patient census.
  • Supervising staff and patient care delivery on designated shifts.
  • Serving as a clinical resource for staff.

Additionally, you will:

  • Participate in nursing strategic initiatives, such as quality improvement and monitoring, TJC compliance, Magnet Recognition, recruitment and retention of staff, and patient and employee satisfaction.
  • Support and implement the UNMH shared governance model.
  • Use independent judgment to assign nursing personnel and staff to specific patients.
  • Monitor compliance with specific objectives and ensure implementation of and compliance with standards, objectives, and operating policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • 2 years of directly related experience.
  • RN licensure in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement.
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification within 30 days.

Physical Conditions:

Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.

  • Significant Hazard: Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials require PPE.
  • Subject to an annual contract and performance appraisal.
