Job Summary

To work within the SUD team model, establishing open communication, support, and accountability among workers and consumers. They are accountable to the Program Director, who is responsible for providing supervision and training.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide Support and Advocacy: Share all expectations of Recovery Specialists/DCI, maintain direct supportive contact with persons served, and provide advocacy services whenever appropriate.
  • Develop Relationships: Develop and maintain a working relationship and knowledge of other social service agencies in the community, and develop strong, supportive relationships with the persons served.
  • Ensure Safety and Care: Provide for the care and safety of all persons served, interact with all persons served to assess needs, provide information, discuss problems, set limits, and encourage growth and development.
  • Participate in Recreational Activities: Participate in persons served recreational activities and notify supervisory staff immediately in the event of a persons served experiencing a crisis, suspected illegal activity, or any behavior constituting an incident in the program.
  • Maintain Records and Participate in Meetings: Maintain updated group notes and reporting in accordance to established record keeping procedures, participate in all staff meetings and other required meeting identified by the supervisor, and assist program administration with the completion of toxicology screenings.
  • Provide Orientation and Crisis Intervention: Provide orientation of services to persons served family members and community interest groups, and provide crisis intervention and trauma informed approaches.
  • Arrange Transportation and Participate in Training: Arrange and provide transportation for persons served to outside appointments when public transportation is not available or recommended, and participate in training programs (both external and internal), regularly research materials relative to chemical abuse, mental illness and treatment approaches.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to Work with Population in Recovery: Ability to work with population in recovery.
  • Ability to Structure and Organize Job Responsibilities: Ability to structure and organize job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to Master First Aid and CPR: Ability to master First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving and Fire Safety.
  • Good Communication and Judgment Skills: Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills and displays sound judgment.
  • Ability to Provide Goal-Oriented Services: Ability to provide goal-oriented services and works well as a team member.
  • Bilingual Preferred: Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
