About the Role

This Medical Childcare Assistant position plays a vital part in supporting the health and skill development of children and young adults with medical needs and developmental delays. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will contribute to creating a great life for children by collaborating with nurses and therapists to assist with child development.

Program Overview

ChildServe's Medical Childcare program provides specialized weekday care for children with medical needs and developmental delays. Our program includes on-site therapy services like physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as a focus on overall health and wellness.

Responsibilities

Assists clients in becoming as independent as possible through skill development and retention.
Follows all aspects of the care plan, within scope, to include nursing, therapy, and behavior support.
Provides a therapeutic environment for care and treatment.
Follows change of shift procedures to assure communication and continuity of care.
Provides care within scope as designated by nurse.
Maintains accurate, complete and timely records.
Communicates with children and young adults, licensed professionals, ChildServe personnel, families, schools, and the public, in a courteous and professional manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Preferred: Two year degree in human services or education but will consider those pursuing their associate's or bachelor's degree. Therapy majors considered also.
Preferred: Experience working with children with disabilities.
Must pass the Iowa DCI child and adult abuse and criminal background check prior to hire and every two years thereafter and complete the child abuse affidavit.
Must also pass the National FBI criminal record check.
