Senior Nuclear Power Plant Design Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Nuclear/Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Blue Energy. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design and construction of our innovative nuclear power plant project.
Responsibilities
- Technical Expertise: The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of nuclear power plant design, including piping, structural, and electrical/I&C systems. They will be responsible for ensuring that all plant systems are designed and operated safely and efficiently.
- Leadership: The Senior Nuclear/Mechanical Engineer will lead a team of engineers and technicians to identify and resolve technical issues that may arise during the design and construction phase. They will also be responsible for implementing mitigation strategies to reduce additional costs during construction, commissioning, and operations.
- Collaboration: The successful candidate will work closely with our Engineering and Construction sub-contractors to ensure that all quality, communication, and scheduling issues are addressed. They will also interact regularly with our Licensing Team to ensure that all questions, concerns, and issues raised by the regulator are addressed accurately and timely.
- Project Management: The Senior Nuclear/Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for managing projects to ensure that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Training and Development: The successful candidate will be responsible for training and developing team members to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3-5 years focused on plant design and construction. Experience in a leadership or senior engineering role is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), familiarity with other relevant software and analytical tools, and a strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant design.
- Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineer status preferred. PMP or other project management certifications are a plus.
