We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Correctional Officer to join our team at The GEO Group. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of our facilities while providing support and guidance to inmates.

Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities as a Correctional Officer will include:

  • Supervising and monitoring inmates in living areas, recreation spaces, dining halls, and visitation rooms.
  • Coordinating inmate movement, including conducting counts and responding to emergencies.
  • Maintaining safe program activities and supervising labor crews.
  • Conducting shakedowns for contraband materials and confiscating prohibited items.
  • Documenting inmate activities, including disciplinary reports.
  • Providing prompt assistance to injured, ill, or traumatized inmates.
  • Reporting maintenance and repair needs to ensure a clean and safe environment.
Requirements

To be successful as a Correctional Officer, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • College coursework or advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or a related field (preferred).
  • Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity (preferred).
  • Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Physical alertness on any assigned shift.
  • Ability to work up to 16 hours within a rolling 24-hour period.
  • Work experience in a correctional setting (preferred).
  • A valid state driver's license.
  • Maturity, flexibility, and ability to command respect and confidence from inmates and staff.
Estimated Salary

$43,000 - $53,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
