We're seeking an experienced security engineer to join our infrastructure security engineering team, focusing on detection and response. As a key member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to leverage your threat detection and response expertise to build foundational systems and services, ensuring our infrastructure remains secure and free from malicious actors.

You'll collaborate closely with engineering teams, IT administrators, and compliance analysts to maintain sufficient visibility into our environments and develop effective programs and practices to ensure our environments are always secure. Tooling and automation will be crucial to success as we scale our environments to meet customer demand.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to build and set up pipelines for gathering relevant security telemetry.
  • Design and implement an effective and scalable security monitoring infrastructure solution.
  • Develop detection strategies to identify anomalous activity and ensure our critical infrastructure and services operate in a safe environment.
  • Triage alerts and drive security incidents to closure while minimizing potential impact to Confluent.
  • Build processes and workflows to triage security alerts and respond to real incidents.
  • Stay ahead of emerging threats by researching new attack vectors and ensuring our detection and response capability aligns with the current threat landscape.
  • Contribute to strategy, risk management, and prioritization for all efforts around detection and response.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong domain knowledge in security incident detection and response.
  • Hands-on experience with instrumenting and deploying telemetry solutions for large-scale, heterogeneous deployments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in incident response and containment practices, preferably in a cloud-first environment.
  • Experience with operating open-source and/or commercial logging and security event management solutions.
  • Decision-maker with autonomy to operate.
  • Ability to work with distributed teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Fluency in scripting or coding in an interpreted language.
  • Experience with serverless deployments in AWS, GCP, or Azure is a plus.

About the Role:

This position offers a competitive estimated salary of $139,230 - $163,620 annually, an annual bonus, and a comprehensive equity package.
