Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Aide to join our team at the Children's Rescue Fund. This role is responsible for providing direct assistance, support, and care to clients residing in our shelter.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complete intake arrival packets, exit logs, and daily occupancy forms in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Utilize the Department of Homeless Services' Client Assistance and Rehousing Enterprise Systems (CARES) to complete Intake Check-in, Discharge Conditional Intake, and other necessary tasks.
  • Review nightly attendance rosters, incident reports, and other documentation to ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations.
  • Receive and confirm food deliveries, signing and dating receipts as necessary.
  • Report any inconsistencies or issues related to food deliveries to the Shift Supervisor and Director of Program Operations.
  • Distribute meals to residents and dispose of expired food items according to DHS' Food Distribution Guidelines.
  • Monitor logs to ensure clients are signing the Daily Attendance Roster when entering and exiting the facility.
  • Provide clients with access to rooms and assist with room transfers/swaps as needed.
  • Collect trash in the office and dispose of it in designated areas.
  • Distribute notices, mail, and other essential documents to residents.
  • Maintain a clean and neat office space, adhering to DHS housekeeping mandates.
  • Bag and tag client personal belongings where necessary and report room cleaning and repair needs to the Shift Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with on-site Shift Supervisors to ensure a safe environment for all staff and clients.
  • Conduct hourly rounds of the facility to secure room doors and check on clients' personal belongings.
  • Perform safety checks on clients staying in the facility due to illness, mobility issues, or other concerns.
  • Ensure clients are responsive during safety checks and alert medical staff and supervisors if anyone is found in distress.
  • Be available to rotate shifts at the discretion of the DPO to meet program needs.
  • Conduct Operation Unit inspections during the new Intake process.
  • Maintain all logs, including Attendance, ACS, emergency contacts, sign-in/out logbooks, and submit them to the Director of Operations by the 1st of each month.
  • Create a dead file of all submitted logs for storage purposes.
  • Acknowledge and adhere to the dress code policy for uniformed personnel and maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance at all times.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid NYS security license.
  • Two years of experience in Single Adult Shelters and/or Congregate Residential Services.
  • Experience working with families/homeless populations.
  • Food Protection Certification and CPR/First Aid required.
  • Satisfactory background investigation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, organizational skills, initiative, ability to work under pressure, and teamwork.
  • Intermediate level of computer proficiency with proficiency in Word, Excel, and the ability to learn new technologies and databases.
Estimated Salary:

$40,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on location and experience.
