Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Telemetry unit at CHI St Alexius Health Bismarck Medical Center. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a Tele/ Cardiac unit and be able to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced Medical/Telemetry unit
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure excellent patient outcomes
  • Read and interpret telemetry strips to identify potential issues
  • Titratable and set rate drips commonly used: Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, (low dose Dopamine), No Levo
  • Charge Nurse on each shift, may occasionally take a patient load
  • Nurse aids/patient care tech ratios: Goal of 1:10
  • RT Equipment: Bipap, trachs, airvo, etc. RN's may need to troubleshoot equipment

Requirements:

  • Minimum nursing experience: Tele/ cardiac RN with PCU experience
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS required
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Required to titrate drips as needed
  • Charge Nurse experience is a plus

Schedule Information:

  • Shifts: 7am-7pm, 7pm-7am; rotation not more frequent than weekly
  • Schedule made by manager with consideration for blocked scheduling based on unit needs
  • Weekend requirements: Every other weekend
  • Holiday requirements: Every other holiday
  • No Call or Standby requirement

Additional Details:

  • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4-5, occasional 5-6 on nights, PCU level care overflow on the unit 1:3
  • Common diagnosis/Types of patients: adults and geriatrics, cardiac, Covid, acute on chronic conditions, etc.
  • Tele/Monitor Techs available
  • Radius Rule: 50 miles exclusion for candidates with associations to CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
  • Submission Requirements: RTO needed upfront (no more than 7 days per 13-week contract)
