Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Tech to join our team at Methodist Hospital Hill Country. As a Patient Care Tech, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
- Obtain and record initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as outlined by policy.
- Assist with mobility by regular turning and positioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Assist with use of walkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Transfers patients to and from other units, departments, or entities. Assist with discharges. Demonstrates proper body mechanics.
- Obtain or assist in the collection of specimens for diagnostic or waived tests. Ensures accuracy of all labels and timely transfer of specimen.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living to include eating and drinking, bathing, shaving, oral care, grooming, and elimination. Changes bed linens as needed.
- Serves as Monitor/Telemetry Tech for the unit as needed.
- Engage in evidence-based best practices that enhance the patient experience, including SAFETY rounding, communication fundamentals/AIDET, Teach-Back, Narrating Care, etc.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong foundation in patient care and a passion for delivering exceptional patient experiences. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, so you must be able to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. You will also need to be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
