About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinarian Team Lead to join our team at the Canine Annex for Recovery and Enrichment (CARE). As a key member of our veterinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily medical care and case flow of animals housed in CARE.

Job Description

Managing Medical Cases (60%):

  • Ensure high-quality individualized care, considering medical and behavioral needs of patients while maintaining overall population medicine using shelter best practices.
  • Serve on a panel with medical, behavior, and operations leaders to review cases and make weekly pathway planning decisions.
  • Perform humane euthanasia for animals deemed unsuitable for placement, working closely with behavior and medical teams.
  • Develop skilled and efficient diagnosis and treatment plans following ARC/CARE/AAH medical parameters and guidelines.

Overseeing Daily Operations (20%):

  • Oversee the daily medical care and case flow of animals housed in CARE.
  • Develop, disseminate, and keep current CARE Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure their implementation.
  • Model a standard of continued commitment to improve and expand upon all aspects of CARE.

Interdepartmental Communication/Administrative/Other (10%):

  • Collaborate and support work of partner departments, particularly Humane Law Enforcement, Community Engagement, and Adoption Center departments.
  • Attend staff meetings, doctor meetings, and other requested meetings.
  • Provide medical information and represent CARE to the public and media when requested.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in veterinary medicine, excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Benefits:

The ASPCA offers a competitive salary of $169,500 - $179,500 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) plan with generous employer contributions, and more.
