Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner Opportunity

Covenant Health, a leading healthcare network in Tennessee, is seeking a skilled Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with serious illnesses, focusing on alleviating suffering and improving quality of life.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide primary care to patients under the supervision of a physician preceptor, adhering to established medical protocols.
  • Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with physician preceptor to formulate and review medical protocols.
  • Obtain complete medical history of the patient, identifying health hazards and risk factors.
  • Perform appropriate physical exams, obtain laboratory specimens, and analyze data for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Assure treatment and/or plan of care is consistent with established protocols.
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient medical records and maintain all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
  • Refers patients to appropriate services exceeding the scope of practice.
  • Provides health promotion counseling and develops patient teaching information.
  • Serves as a resource person for other staff personnel and may supervise clinical staff.
Requirements:
  • Current DEA license.
  • Certification by the American Nurse Association (ANA) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) with specialty applicable to the area of responsibility.
  • State licensure requirements.
  • CPR certification.
