Job Overview

314 Action is a grassroots community driven by over 400,000 donors working to elect Democrats with STEM backgrounds who will use science and facts to address pressing issues like climate change and healthcare.

As a leading national organization, 314 has made a significant impact since its inception in 2016, focusing on candidate recruitment and early-stage candidate support. In 2020, we helped flip U.S. Senate seats in Arizona and Colorado by drafting Capt. Mark Kelly and former Gov. John Hickenlooper to successfully run for office. In the 2022 cycle, we recruited and helped elect Rep Melanie Stansbury (NM-02) in a special election as well as Reps-elect Dr. Yadira Caraveo (CO-08) and Eric Sorensen (IL-17).

We have successfully endorsed over 225 STEM candidates who won their elections at all levels of the ballot in 2022, including 58 non-incumbents. We funded over $6 million towards our endorsed STEM candidates' campaigns across 46 states at all levels of the ballot from school boards to US Senate. 74% of our 2022 endorsed STEM candidates identify as women, people of color, or LGBTQ+.

We are currently accepting applications for Spring 2025 internships with a time commitment of 20-32 hours a week. 314's Spring Interns are hired on a rolling basis for approximately 2 months from their expected start date. All interns must live in or relocate to the DC area (including Maryland and Virginia) for the duration of the internship. Internships are paid $17.50/hour and we are happy to work with interns to secure academic credit for their work. Interns will work a hybrid office schedule and are expected to come in person to the office located in McPherson Square for part of their internship. A transit benefit is available for interns as they report to the DC office.

This internship is ideal for recent graduates or current students interested in gaining experience with a national political organization or potentially working on campaigns.

  • Other various responsibilities as assigned by the internship coordinator

Requirements

  • Strong applicants will be highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Preference will be given to students studying in STEM fields, political science, or other related fields
  • Knowledge of Google Drive
  • Enrolled in a degree-granting institution or a recent graduate
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Must be 18 years or older

  • Graphic design experience
  • Experience on political campaigns and/or political organizations
