Optometrist Medical Group Specialist

To provide comprehensive eye care services to patients with a wide range of visual problems, diagnose and treat visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribe treatment as licensed and credited. To refer patients to other appropriate Kaiser Permanente providers as needed for further evaluation and treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough eye exams using advanced optometry instruments and techniques to diagnose and treat visual problems.
- Prescribe and fit contact lenses to meet the unique needs of each patient.
- Determine the visual requirements of partially sighted patients and prescribe low-vision aids to aid their vision.
- Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect and diagnose ocular pathology, and use examination techniques to determine ocular signs of systemic diseases and medications.
- Collaborate with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in departmental and educational meetings, including peer review activities, to stay up-to-date on the latest eye care techniques and best practices.
- Consult with patients to understand their eye care needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
- Stay current with the latest eye care research and technologies to provide the best possible care for patients.
Requirements:
· Minimum of one (1) year of experience in optometry or successful completion of an accredited optometry residency program.
· Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry required.
· Licensed Optometrist (in the state where care is provided).
· National Provider Identifier.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interdisciplinary health care environment or successful completion of an accredited residency program.
· Accredited residency in Optometry preferred.
Travel:
Yes, 75% of the time.
