About the Job Description

This Training Specialist will be responsible for delivering a full range of training programs and professional development activities using experiential adult learning techniques. You will assess learning styles of learners and balance individual needs with collective learner requirements. This may involve facilitating trainings at various community-based establishments and traveling to locations not accessible by public transportation.

You will also prepare with co-facilitators to effectively deliver training content, speak about the Institute@MHP at conferences and seminars, and provide general education to stakeholders on topics such as peer support and recovery principles.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver training programs and professional development activities to promote adult learning and growth

Assess learning styles and adapt instruction to meet individual and collective learner needs

Facilitate trainings at various community-based establishments and travel to non-accessible locations

Prepare with co-facilitators to deliver training content

Speak about the Institute@MHP at conferences and seminars

Provide general education to stakeholders on topics such as peer support and recovery principles

Participate in ongoing recruitment of constituents to receive MHP training programs

Support stakeholder meetings as required by contract agreements

Evaluate and improve training quality through assessments, feedback, and updated content

Proctor course exams to ensure validity and integrity of scoring processes

Maintain regular attendance and flexible work schedule, including evenings and overtime as needed

Travel within the community, including handicap inaccessible locations, to facilitate trainings

Required Skills and Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Education, or a related field

At least 3 years of experience working in psychiatric rehabilitation/behavioral health/human services settings (including internships and volunteer work)

Experience as a classroom trainer/instructional designer or some combination of the above

Developing and facilitating trainings in adult learning settings

Facilitating virtual trainings in remote environments

Comprehensive understanding of the Behavioral Health system in Pennsylvania, with experience in other states an asset

Proficiency in computer skills, including desktop computing, e-mail, time sheet management, electronic health records, internet research, etc.

Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Canvas preferred) and virtual meeting platforms like Google Meet and Zoom

Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, attention to detail, customer service, cultural competence, time management, autonomy, problem-solving, and organization

Ability to interact with others to build strong working relationships and invite dialogue, mutual learning, and shared meaning

A valid driver's license and fluency in Spanish are pluses but not requirements, with certification as a Certified Peer Specialist and WRAP Facilitator in Pennsylvania being advantageous
