Job Summary

Wieland Group is seeking a seasoned Plant Manager to lead our manufacturing operations in Waterbury, CT. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient production of high-quality metal products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safety and Compliance: Oversee and enforce plant safety protocols, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Budget and Financial Management: Assist in developing and controlling the operational budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Operational Oversight: Lead daily operations meetings, perform plant inspections, and schedule overtime requirements.
  • Human Resources and Development: Identify, mentor, and develop individuals for key positions and future leadership roles.
  • External Relations and Compliance: Direct and oversee environmental subcontractors, manage union relations, and conduct quarterly State of Business Reviews.
  • Communication and Reporting: Organize and conduct monthly meetings to communicate key updates and gather feedback.
  • Process Improvement and Efficiency: Utilize an incentive bonus system to enhance plant efficiencies and productivity.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and supervise direct reports, set clear goals and expectations, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Strategic Direction and Alignment: Communicate the plant's strategic vision and goals to the team, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate collaboration between departments to ensure cohesive and efficient plant operations.
  • Culture and Engagement: Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the plant.


Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or similar (or reasonable equivalent) with a minimum of 10 years' experience in plant supervision.
  • Strong mechanical skills, communication, and leadership skills with manufacturing excellence experience.
  • Experience with Unionized workforce and background in metal working industry preferred.
