Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Property Accountant to join our team at Gables Residential Services, Inc. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records for our properties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for assigned properties, including preparation and review of journal entries, on-site closing reports, and general ledger reviews.
  • Manage liquid assets for properties, including preparation of cash flow reports, distribution of funds, and timely debt payments.
  • Generate third-party accounting reports as required by owners and asset managers.
  • Approve invoices for payment initiated by accounts payable associates to ensure timely compliance with corporate policies.
  • Analyze and evaluate financial data to generate special reports as required by management and owners.
  • Provide schedules for external audits and assist on-site associates in compiling and analyzing financial information to achieve company and property owner goals.
  • Effectively reconcile assigned bank statements, research and resolve outstanding items, and accurately distribute owner's report packages.
  • Organize and file accounting closing reports and maintain a thorough understanding of computer functions and support as required by management.
  • Communicate effectively with accounting staff, support staff, and on-site associates to ensure job functions are completed professionally and efficiently.
Requirements
  • An accounting degree is required, with a minimum of three years' experience in the accounting field and a sound understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • A background in real estate or property management is preferred.
  • Excellent MS Outlook, Word, Excel skills, with successful completion of in-house training in Yardi and various banking programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well in a team-based environment and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to adapt to new accounting software and understand accounting-related policies and procedures established by the company.
