Ecological Field Operations Lead

Battelle Memorial Institute, a renowned research and development organization, is seeking an Ecological Field Operations Lead to join their team. This exciting opportunity will see the successful candidate responsible for overseeing seasonal field operations in remote locations with challenging conditions.
The National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) program is a continental-scale observation facility funded by the National Science Foundation and operated by Battelle. As an Ecological Field Operations Lead, you will play a critical role in collecting long-term, open-access ecological data to better understand how U.S. ecosystems are changing.
This dynamic position involves performing and supervising field and lab assignments in various conditions, including extreme temperatures, inclement weather, rough terrain, and wildlife hazards. You will also be responsible for providing training and performance feedback to season personnel, following established field procedures for sample collection, and reporting activities and completed work according to protocol.
In addition to your technical expertise, excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent, three months of experience in ecological field sampling or related experience, and the ability to learn and perform procedures and methods outside of primary responsibilities.
