Job Summary

As a Tooling Coordinator at Pratt Industries, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of our manufacturing facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to inspect and maintain tooling, including cutting dies and printing plates, to ensure they meet quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and recognize tooling that needs to be repaired, replaced, or revised.
  • Conduct machine scheduled walk-throughs to verify all items are at the machines and pull, inspect, and return other tooling to its proper location.
  • Pull a printing plate backlog once a shift and inspect and stage items that meet requirements.
  • Pre- and post-inspect cutting dies, tag them once a shift, and pull and put away cutting dies as they are returned from machines.
  • Notify the Tooling Coordinator, Superintendent, and Supervisors of the status of tooling 'In-House Repair' or 'Outside Repair' and be responsible for all tooling POs.
  • Check in all incoming print plates, assign print plate and cutting die numbers, and keep up die spreadsheets.
  • Assign locations to all print plates and enter them into HRMS, and deliver supporting documentation to the die room.
  • Be responsible for all outgoing tooling, order tooling and supplies when needed, and help scan print cards and cads in the system.
  • Get quotes for tooling when needed and be responsible for all tooling bill of lading that are sent out.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry is preferred.
  • 6 months of experience in the Press or Finishing Department is preferred.
  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy and calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Able to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

Working Conditions:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
