Job Summary:
The YMCA of the North is seeking a skilled Aquatic Educator to join our team. As a Swim Instructor-In-Training, you will be responsible for teaching youth and adults critical swim skills to ensure their safety and enjoyment in and around water.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shadow and assist certified swim instructors to learn programming and emergency procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service in a safe, enjoyable, and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and satisfaction.
- Communicate policies and procedures for the pool, body of water, and whirlpool.
Requirements:
- Minimum age of 16.
- Complete YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification within 90 days from date of hire.
- Patience and ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers.
- Demonstrated ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water (Stage 4 level swimming skill).
- Dedicated to member safety and the mission and philosophy of the YMCA.
Work Environment:
- Must remain in the pool area at all times.
- Ability to support child or adult body weight in the water.
- Ability to recognize and remedy hazardous/dangerous situations.
