Aquatic Educator

Job Summary:

The YMCA of the North is seeking a skilled Aquatic Educator to join our team. As a Swim Instructor-In-Training, you will be responsible for teaching youth and adults critical swim skills to ensure their safety and enjoyment in and around water.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shadow and assist certified swim instructors to learn programming and emergency procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service in a safe, enjoyable, and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and satisfaction.
• Communicate policies and procedures for the pool, body of water, and whirlpool.

Requirements:

• Minimum age of 16.
• Complete YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification within 90 days from date of hire.
• Patience and ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers.
• Demonstrated ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water (Stage 4 level swimming skill).
• Dedicated to member safety and the mission and philosophy of the YMCA.

Work Environment:

• Must remain in the pool area at all times.
• Ability to support child or adult body weight in the water.
• Ability to recognize and remedy hazardous/dangerous situations.
