Community Development Manager

We are seeking a skilled Community Development Manager to join our team in Chicago, Illinois. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in supporting the Scaling Community Violence Intervention for a Safer Chicago (SC2) initiative.
Job SummaryThe Community Development Manager will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Director of External Partnerships and ensuring the successful implementation of grant-making and external-facing responsibilities. This includes coordination with SC2's evaluation and learning partners, donor and community partner engagement, and communications.
Key Responsibilities- Grantmaking and Fund Management Support:
- Collaborate with SC2's Administrative Partner to ensure accurate accounting of receipt and disbursement of pooled funds and timely reporting to SC2 investors;
- Serve as point of contact for grant recipients, answering questions related to grant disbursements, reporting requirements, etc.;
- Maintain tracking system for funding raised to date, as well as new and expiring grants;
- Accurately track and report cash flow to EP Director to ensure sufficient cash for disbursements to community partners and to maintain SC2 operations.
- Investor Management and Support:
- Work with EP Director, implementation team, and community partners to collect and document information for comprehensive semi-annual reports, grant applications, and future impact reports;
- Support EP Director with the coordination of 4 to 6 community-led funder briefings per year;
- Draft, design, and distribute quarterly newsletters to all funders and external partners;
- Support with the drafting and development of an annual report, including key initiative updates and any outputs from SC2's evaluation and learning partners;
- Create and maintain a portfolio of prospective SC2 funders;
- Collaborate with EP Director to execute a strategy to raise funding to support the future of SC2;
- Partner with SC2 leadership and collaborative partners on the storytelling aspect of communications and identify potential external partners to elevate the stories, work of community partners, and overall impact of SC2.
- Administrative Support:
- Support EP Director with coordination, preparation, and execution of numerous collaborative meetings with varying audiences;
- Occasionally serve as the point of contact for press events and other external SC2 events;
- Participate in relevant PSPC/SC2 or CVI-related internal or external meetings, forums, and networking events, virtually and in person.
- A Master's degree or equivalent work experience;
- Three to five years of demonstrated leadership and/or program/project management experience;
- Experience working with at least one of the following industries or sectors: philanthropy, community- or neighborhood-based organizations, public sector, research, and/or violence prevention, including fields such as public safety, criminal justice, community organizing, and others in the social service sector;
- Experience navigating multi-stakeholder relationships across sectors, including community stakeholders, business and civic leaders, funders, and practitioners;
- Familiarity with community-based violence reduction initiatives and/or public funding streams in Chicago, Cook County, the State of Illinois, and/or the Federal;
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a hybrid work environment and undertake some weekly local travel.
