Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic group of professionals who are dedicated to providing high-quality patient care.

About the Role

The Radiation Therapist will be responsible for administering external radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist, ensuring accurate treatment and quality care. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer external radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist
  • Assure that patient positions, treatment equipment orientation, and beam placement conform to treatment specifications
  • Perform simulations and localization according to established protocols
  • Prepare and construct equipment, such as immobilization devices and treatment devices
  • Educate and prepare patients and their families regarding treatment reactions and post-treatment care
Requirements
  • Graduate of a formal radiation therapy technology program accredited by the Joint Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
  • Licensed by the WV Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners as a Radiation Therapist
  • Board Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy Technology
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours a day, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds of weight, and carry up to 20 pounds of weight
