Position Summary

The Quality Manager is responsible for establishing, executing, and perpetually enhancing a framework that ensures all Duke products comply with customer requirements and attain exceptional quality and reliability standards. This role is pivotal in enabling the organization to deliver impactful solutions and build lasting customer relationships. The manager will guide and nurture Quality team members to optimize engagement and performance. This position requires collaboration across functions, as well as with customers and suppliers, to analyze issues, identify root causes, and implement validated solutions to mitigate risks associated with quality and reliability standards. The role also involves leading the organization in the advancement, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of quality management best practices that reflect Duke's values.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee quality assurance capabilities, objectives, and roadmaps that align with enterprise goals and strategic initiatives.
  2. Direct the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of the quality management system utilizing industry best practices and insights from warranty, audits, and other internal data.
  3. Design and maintain visual management tools to track the Quality Management System's performance.
  4. Mentor and develop Quality Team members to enhance their engagement and realize their potential.
  5. Continuously enhance the technical, problem-solving, and leadership competencies of the Quality team.
  6. Deliver training to Quality and Production staff on quality standards and best practices, fostering a culture of quality.
  7. Establish, maintain, and oversee internal, certification, and supplier audit schedules and programs.
  8. Manage and uphold Duke's ISO certification and other quality-related certifications in collaboration with the Compliance Manager, forming an internal steering team to implement improvements based on audit findings.
  9. Administer the upkeep of Duke's quality document control system.
  10. Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure designs and processes consistently meet quality benchmarks, developing quality plans and associated documentation.
  11. Serve as a Duke certified Internal Auditor, conducting audits and mentoring audit team members.
  12. Facilitate and guide root cause analysis and corrective action implementation with Duke team members and suppliers to enhance product and process quality, documenting and sharing insights with stakeholders.
  13. Keep stakeholders updated on significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and the actions taken to address them.
  14. Participate in continuous improvement teams.
  15. Monitor and evaluate quality performance data and metrics to identify risks and opportunities, driving improvement initiatives and maintaining departmental KPIs.
  16. Lead continuous improvement efforts within the Quality department, including Managing for Daily Improvement, Projects, and Rapid Improvement Events.
  17. Embody and promote Duke's Values.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quality management within a manufacturing context.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality control standards, methodologies, and tools (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree and/or Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt).
  • Experience with lean manufacturing methodologies.
