Fleet Maintenance Specialist at US Foods, Inc.

US Foods, Inc. is a leading food distributor with a culture and history of promoting from within. As a Fleet Maintenance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the maintenance and repair of our fleet road equipment, including tractors and trailers.

The ideal candidate has several years of experience in diesel mechanics, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting. You must have excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively with coworkers and drivers, and demonstrate teamwork skills.

The salary for this position is approximately $54,000 per year, based on industry standards and comparable positions in the Chicago area.

Job Description
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment, including tractors, trailers, bobtails, reefers, lift gates, etc.
  • Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
  • Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM list, and parts accountability.
  • Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding trucking.
  2. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues to resolve equipment issues efficiently.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Diesel mechanic or reefer experience (minimum 3 years)
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
