Advanced Pulmonary Services Physician Opportunity in Michigan

Covenant HealthCare, a leading healthcare provider in Michigan's Great Lakes Bay Region, is seeking a skilled Pulmonary Critical Care Physician to join its dedicated team of providers. With a unique blend of outpatient pulmonology and critical care opportunities, this position offers a chance to shape and grow advanced pulmonary services.
**Key Highlights:**
- Critical Care Coverage: Approximately one week per month dedicated to ICU service, providing patients with timely and effective care.
- Outpatient Pulmonology: Two weeks of outpatient clinic duties per month, treating conditions such as COPD, asthma, and lung cancer, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
- Inpatient Pulmonary: As-needed coverage only; not a regular part of the schedule, allowing for flexibility and focus on high-priority cases.
- No routine night, weekend, or holiday call (covered by nocturnists), offering a better work-life balance.
**Facilities & Resources:**
- Pulmonary-Specific Resources:
- An endoscopy suite with EBUS capability, enabling precise and minimally invasive procedures.
- ION bronchoscopy technology anticipated next fiscal year, further enhancing diagnostic capabilities.
- A lung nodule clinic to improve care coordination and procedural opportunities, streamlining patient care.
- Critical Care Facilities:
- Three ICUs with a fourth opening soon, providing ample capacity for complex care.
- Dedicated ICU beds supported by multidisciplinary teams, ensuring comprehensive patient care.
- Employed Critical Care Intensivists and Nocturnists, collaborating to deliver exceptional care.
- Support Services:
- Access to interventional radiology (IR) for collaborative care, expanding treatment options.
- APPs available for procedures, charting, and patient support, augmenting clinical staff.
**Procedural Responsibilities:**
- Critical Care Procedures: Intubations, central line placement, tube thoracostomy, therapeutic bronchoscopy, temporary pacemakers, and procedural sedation, requiring expertise and precision.
- Pulmonary Procedures: Bronchoscopy and thoracentesis; collaboration with IR and APPs as needed, ensuring seamless care delivery.
- Preferred Skills: Advanced bronchoscopy experience (e.g., ION, EBUS) is advantageous but not mandatory, highlighting the adaptability required for this role.
