Job Description

You will be a crucial part of the V-BAT team as a State Estimation Engineer, contributing significantly to the enhancement of autonomy for our unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Your responsibilities will include designing, developing, and optimizing state estimation algorithms that integrate visual inertial information with other sensor data to achieve robust and accurate state estimation in challenging environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement advanced state estimation algorithms that leverage visual-inertial odometry techniques.
  • Incorporate multiple sensors (GPS, EO/IR cameras, IMU, barometer, radar, etc.) to enhance the accuracy and reliability of state estimation.
  • Create real-time processing pipelines for vision-based state estimation on embedded systems.
  • Write production-quality software in C++.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including control engineers, software engineers, and hardware engineers, to ensure seamless integration of state estimation modules.
  • Conduct experiments and field tests to validate the performance of state estimation algorithms in real-world scenarios.
Requirements and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A strong foundation in theory related to SLAM, factor graphs, structure from motion, feature detection and tracking, Kalman filters, and more.
  • Experience with C++11 or newer.
  • A proven track record of deploying sensor fusion algorithms to compute-constrained systems.
  • Experience working with Linux, command line tools, and other relevant technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Matlab and Python.
  • Familiarity with high-fidelity simulation and sensor modeling.
  • Successful experience shipping production-quality code for an aerial platform.
Compensation

We offer a competitive salary range of $222,296 - $333,444 per year, reflecting your expertise and contributions to our team.
