About the Role

The Community Service Society of New York is seeking a highly skilled Helpline Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our consumer assistance programs, you will provide vital support to individuals navigating the complex health insurance system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Phone Support: Respond to live calls from consumers, addressing questions and concerns regarding health insurance eligibility, tax forms, accessing healthcare, appealing denials, and finding low-cost or free care options.
  • Information Dissemination: Effectively communicate information about consumer rights in the healthcare system to callers.
  • Data Management: Accurately record consumer information, data, and detailed case notes for each case.
  • Timely Response: Ensure prompt responses for cases requiring call backs and follow-ups.
  • Trend Reporting: Contribute to the analysis and reporting of helpline trends and statistics.
Requirements
  • Customer Service Experience: Extensive experience providing customer service assistance is required.
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree or relevant advanced degree is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with MS Office is required, and experience with SalesForce or other data management systems is preferred.
  • Linguistic Skills: Fluency in Spanish or another language is required.
  • Cultural Competence: Ability to provide information in a fair and impartial manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate, as well as disability accessible, for consumers with limited English proficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
