Medical Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Georgia Oncology and Hematology Consultants. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our physicians and patients by performing various clinical tasks and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians with medical procedures, including phlebotomy, laboratory testing, and quality control.
- Perform laboratory blood work, including blood draws and processing of specimens.
- Prepare blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation and send outside labs to appropriate facilities as dictated by patient insurance plans.
- Maintain test report logs, quality control logs, equipment records, and checklists according to regulatory agencies.
- Obtain vital signs, height, weight, pain level, and PHQ9 depression screening of patients as requested by physicians and document in the Onco/EMR system.
- Place patients in exam rooms and prepare for physicians in a timely manner.
- Receive lab reports via telephone, lab system, or fax and document in patient charts or Onco/EMR for physician review.
- Assist physicians with medical procedures, including bone marrows, fine needle aspirate, paracentesis, and pelvic exams.
- Schedule outside testing, referrals to other physicians, and hospital admissions as ordered by physicians, if applicable.
- High School or GED
- Certifications/Licenses: As required by state where employed
- BLS required
- Valid Driver's License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed
- One-year experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician's office with ability to perform venipuncture
- Critical thinking skills, including solid problem-solving, analysis, decision-making, planning, time management, and organizational skills
- Developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, diplomacy, tact, conflict management, delegation skills, and diversity awareness
- Good command of the English language; second language is an asset but not required
- Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), active listening, and balanced feedback
- Strong customer focus, ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness, and operational excellence
This is a per diem position with shift availability from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Occasional overtime may be required, and weekend shifts based on location hours and operational needs.
