Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrician to join our team at the Oregon Convention Center. As a Lead Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all electrical systems across the convention center, ensuring a safe and functional environment for attendees and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with managers and other convention center staff to determine job requirements
  • Prepare rough working drawings and schematics, estimate materials, and obtain parts
  • Install electrical components, including conduits, circuit wiring, transformers, signaling systems, pull boxes, and lighting switches
  • Service and repair electrical equipment, including starters, motors, switches, and fixtures, and troubleshoot electrical circuits and controls
  • Maintain, repair, and install industrial lighting fixtures, interior wiring, connections, switches, and controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, distribution and instrument panels, buzzer and bell circuits, audio systems, and power circuits
  • Conduct installations of electrical services to buildings and other structures, including underground cables and overhead wires, and perform testing and splicing of wires and cables
  • Oversee preventative maintenance programs for all permanent electrical equipment and ensure accurate and timely records of maintenance work performed
  • Review and complete work orders from the CMMS program (Asset Essentials) to ensure timely and accurate completion of scheduled preventative maintenance, work orders, and tasks
  • Research, order, and maintain inventories of lamps, electrical supplies, and materials, and participate in project planning, bid solicitation, and oversee maintenance crews, ensuring timely completion and accurate record-keeping
  • Oversee new construction work done by outside contractors, calculate loads and circuit ratings, compile data, prepare reports, assist the public and officials, promote safe work habits, and contribute to a positive team atmosphere

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in specialized and standard electrical practices, methods, instruments, tools, and materials, alongside awareness of occupational hazards and safety protocols
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, issue oral and written instructions, make quick decisions in emergencies, and troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Function as the Oregon Convention Center's Signing Supervising Electrician, performing statutory inspections, authorizations, and overseeing projects
  • Understanding the coordination requirements of project planning, project management, estimating materials, and contractor services required
  • Leadership skills to train and direct day-to-day work of skilled, semi-skilled, and other workers when assigned
  • Understanding and application of building regulations, codes, and safety procedures, such as national and state building codes, the National Electrical Code (NEC), or the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, but closely with other departments and coworkers to accomplish necessary tasks
  • Skill to react quickly to unforeseen challenges and changes in priorities
