About the Position:

We are seeking a highly qualified Clinical Educator - Low Vision Specialist to join our team at MCPHS University. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the education and training of future optometrists.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality educational experiences to students in our Eye and Vision Center, with a focus on low vision exams and patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical teaching, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.

Responsibilities:
  • Precept 3rd and 4th year optometry students in The Eye and Vision Center low vision/vision rehabilitation service
  • Teach 3rd and 4th year optometry students effective, evidence-based methods of patient care based on the MCPHS School of Optometry clinical curriculum
  • Teach 3rd and 4th year students evidence-based methods to treat and manage patients with low vision
  • Objectively grade optometry students based on their clinical knowledge, skills, and patient management
Requirements:
  • Must have an O.D. degree from an ACOE accredited school or college of optometry
  • Must have a Massachusetts optometry license
  • Must have a Massachusetts controlled substance license
  • Minimum of five years' work experience in low vision / vision rehabilitation if the applicant is not residency trained
  • Residency training is desired
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Have experience providing primary care and low vision / vision rehabilitation treatment and management
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively, interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals).
Salary and Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
