Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Bus Driver to join our team at the City of Beaumont, CA. As a Bus Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting passengers over an assigned route, collecting fares, and maintaining daily passenger reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive a bus over a designated route to transport passengers in accordance with established time schedules.
  • Pick up and drop off passengers at pre-arranged locations, assist passengers as needed, and load/unload wheelchairs.
  • Collect fares and keep records of amounts collected and distances traveled.
  • Ensure passenger safety on the bus and maintain order among passengers.
  • Perform pre-trip safety inspections, check belts, oil, and water levels, and make minor repairs and maintenance to the bus.
  • Operate various communications equipment, including copy machines, telephones, fax, email, and computer systems.
  • Maintain daily records of bus operation, prepare cash reports, and respond to requests for information from the public and City departments.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
  • One year of experience as a general passenger bus driver desired.
  • Valid California Class C Driver's License.
  • California Class B Drivers License, Air Brake, and Passenger Endorsements within 90 days of employment.
  • Vehicle Transit Training certificate and DMV medical examiner's certificate within 30 days of employment.
Working Conditions

The position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. Additionally, the position requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination. Near and far vision is required to read work-related documents and perform bus driving-related duties. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The position requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
