Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Crisis Specialist to join our Behavioral Emergency Response Team (BERT). As a key member of our team, you will provide critical support to patients and staff at our medical center.

Schedule

This is a per diem position, with a rotating shift schedule. You will be required to work variable hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients and identify their psychosocial risk factors through comprehensive behavioral health assessments.
  • Develop individualized care plans that target challenging behaviors and reduce injuries to patients and staff.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to identify patient-specific needs and barriers to treatment compliance.
  • Provide counseling and/or treatment to individuals, couples, families, or groups by establishing and maintaining a therapeutic relationship.
  • Educate adults, children, and families experiencing emotional disturbances, mental illness, or problems related to substance abuse.
  • Intervene with patients and families regarding emotional, social, and financial consequences of illness and/or disability.
  • Provide crisis counseling and intervention related to treatment decisions.
  • Advocate for patient and family empowerment and independence to make autonomous healthcare decisions.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • At least 5 years' experience in behavioral health, preferably in an acute care or crisis setting.
  • A valid license as a Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT).
  • BLS certification.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
