Role Overview

The Fire Alarm Systems Technician plays a crucial role in the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Fire Alarm Systems, along with other associated building safety products at various client locations. This includes tasks such as panel repair, device replacement, and resolving low voltage circuit issues, all while effectively managing technical resources and documentation to ensure seamless execution of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Execute installation, programming, and commissioning of fire alarm systems. Address customer service inquiries promptly, providing troubleshooting and repair services as necessary. Engage in after-hours service initiatives as required. Maintain communication with central dispatch regarding work order progress and customer concerns. Interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, and operational manuals effectively. Oversee and assess the installation of equipment to align with customer and contractual standards. Complete necessary training and certification for internal and external products utilized. Timely submission of all required documentation related to tasks, activities, and productivity. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines consistently.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent qualification. Valid State of Oregon LEA (Electrical – Limited Energy Technician, Class A) license. At least four (4) years of experience in low voltage electrical systems, particularly in Fire/Life Safety Systems. Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and operational manuals. Familiarity with hand tools, testing equipment, and commissioning devices. Capability to work in challenging positions, including heights and confined spaces. Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and potential overnight travel. Demonstrated commitment to high-quality customer service. Strong organizational skills and a proactive attitude towards learning. Basic understanding of networking concepts and architectures.

Preferred Skills:

Associate degree in Electronics, Networking, Computer Science, or a related discipline. State of Washington Limited Energy System (EL06) license. NICET Level II certification or the ability to obtain it within the first year. VESDA certification. Advanced knowledge of DOS and Windows operating systems.
