About the Position

The University of Iowa is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Psychologist to join our team at the University Counseling Service. As a key member of our inter-disciplinary staff, you will provide psychological services to support the academic, interpersonal, and leadership goals of our diverse student body.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry a clinical case load providing counseling to individuals, couples, and groups, consulting with other professionals as necessary.
  • Provide diagnoses, assessment, and treatment for emotional and functional disorders through primarily brief model counseling.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and assist trainees in various content areas.
  • Conduct workshops and outreach services designed to provide mental health education to students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents/families.
  • Develop cooperative working relationships with UI units and design outreach programs to meet their needs.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in either Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-Accredited program.
  • Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist within 18 months of hire.
  • Extensive knowledge of evidence-based mental health counseling in assessment, crisis, individual, case management, and group.
  • Ability to foster a welcoming and respectful workplace environment while recognizing personal differences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid State of Iowa license as a psychologist by start date.
  • Relevant post-degree clinical work experience (typically 1-3 years).
  • Working proficiency with drop-in mental health consultation services, such as Let's Talk programming.
