Job Description

F. L. Crane & Sons, Inc. is a specialty contractor with over 75 years of experience in finishing, metal panel systems, and custom crating. We operate 14 divisions throughout the southeastern US and pride ourselves on our family culture, dedication to innovation, and industry standards.

  • Perform construction layout and data collection tasks, including setting up and operating surveying instruments like robotic total stations, automated layout solutions, laser scanners, and aerial drones.
  • Layout scope includes interior and exterior walls, windows, doors, finishes, and prefabricated wall panel systems.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure it's in proper working condition.
  • Read and understand construction plans.
  • Work with a BIM and Field Technology Team to support construction divisions.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience in traditional construction layout, robotic construction layout, or as an instrument man or party chief in Land Surveying (preferred)
  • Part 107a Aerial Drone License (preferred)

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of construction layout, surveying construction staking, or other related techniques.
  • Ability to use robotic layout equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform fieldwork and lift heavy objects.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license (preferred)
