Construction Engineering Internship Opportunity

Hoar Construction is seeking highly motivated and qualified students for our Internship Program. The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a civil engineering, construction engineering, or building/construction sciences program and is available to work 40 hours per week during the spring semester.


Duties and Responsibilities:

As an intern at Hoar Construction, you will gain exposure to estimating, project management, and the field. Your responsibilities will include:


  • Gaining an understanding of the construction process
  • Participating in quantity takeoff/quantity estimating
  • Working with the submittal process, including maintaining logs, reviewing and approving shop drawings and submittals
  • Preparing transmittals for distribution for project documentation
  • Assisting in jobsite setup, permitting, and closeout

Requirements:

To be considered for this internship, you must:


  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university pursuing a four-year or advanced degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Building Science
  • Be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Maintain a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Be able to work 40 hours per week during the spring semester
  • Have completed college freshman year
  • Desire to pursue a career in the construction industry upon graduation
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Hold a valid Driver's License

The work environment is mainly indoor and outdoor with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, and travel from site to site.


The physical demands of this job require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting, stand or sit for prolonged periods, occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist, lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, operate equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation, and verbally communicate to exchange information.


The vision requirements include seeing in the normal visual range with or without correction.


The hearing requirements include hearing in the normal audio range with or without correction.
