Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for Automated Test Equipment

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Manufacturing Test Engineering group at Tesla Motors.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, automation, and robotics, with experience in creating robust and efficient production testing equipment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing automated test equipment, producing detailed CAD models, and verifying designs using FEA and CFD.
They will also lead conceptual equipment development, balance product specifications, and review designs for performance, simplicity, and robustness.
Additionally, the candidate will analyze system constraints, propose innovative solutions, and support building, debugging, and validation efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Architect automated test equipment
- Design and develop production testing equipment
- Verify designs using FEA and CFD
- Lead conceptual equipment development

- Support building, debugging, and validation efforts
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience as a Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer
- Strong background in mechanical design, automation, and robotics
- Experience in creating robust and efficient production testing equipment
- Knowledge of solid mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, dynamics, and material selection
- Experience with SolidWorks, PDM, and Ansys, or similar CAD/CAE software
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to interact with other engineering disciplines

Compensation and Benefits:
As a full-time Tesla Motors employee, you will be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with employer match, and employee stock purchase plans.

Expected Compensation: $116,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
